About

The English Lavender Farm is set on a gently sloping hillside and surrounded with a backdrop of forested snow-capped mountains. We initially planted 5 varieties of English lavender (Angustafolia Lavendula); and have begun to plant more each year including some new French lavenders (Lavandins). The neat rows of lavender have different appearances at various times of the year; sometimes silvery, others bright green and then of course purple and blue but they always look quite spectacular.  The best time to visit the farm is in the summer months of June and July although sometimes May can see some early blooms and August some late ones.

We participate in the Oregon Lavender Festival which takes place on the second weekend of July which sees many visitors who come from far and wide to admire the purple landscapes. We are also members of the Southern Oregon Lavender Trail - a group of local lavender farmers who have created a unique attraction in the Applegate valley with a variety of events and lavender inspired products available at each farm on the tour.

We do not use chemicals or pesticides in our fields so that our products are as natural as possible.  We source materials locally wherever we can and try to promote the Applegate area and its many artists and craftspeople. We use as much of the whole plants as we can; fresh and dried bouquets are produced of course and flower buds are distilled for their oil or sun-dried to fill our linen products; the stems are bundled and dipped in beeswax to create fire starters or after steaming they are used as a mulch elsewhere on the farm - nothing goes to waste!
We distil our own flowers so that we can control the quality of our products.  Soaps and scented candles, chocolate, cookies and dried flower products are either hand made by us or by independent local artisans according to our prescription.
