The Smith County Genealogical Society was formed in May of 1999. The activities of the society include the study of genealogy in Smith County, Mississippi, and surrounding areas, the further education of those persons interested in the field of genealogy, the conduct of scholarly genealogical research, and the preservation of the records of past and present life in this area.
