Morgan County Historical Society Museum
142 East Main Street
740-962-4785

The Morgan County Museum features original artwork by Howard Chandler Christy, local boy who made good - his famous “Christy Girls” gracing the covers of all the most popular magazines (The Ladies Home Journal, Harpers, Scribner's, Century, McClures and more) in the early 1900’s. Also on display are the artifacts of McDonald Birch (another McConnelsville native who became a world-renowned magician). You will see Victorian furnishings, antique vintage clothing, antique household machines and appliances, farm machinery and much more. The museum also has a very extensive Civil War collection, as well as artifacts from the Mexican War, from the American Revolution, and World Wars I and II.

This excellent facility will take you through the ages, a comprehensive display of life in the Muskingum River Valley region from the stone age through World War II. Built in 1904, the building housing the museum was originally a produce store, then a market and later a feed store. Over the years everything from tractors and farm equipment - to greeting cards (it was a Hallmarks store for a period of time) have been sold from this lovely building
