555 Fraser Avenue
808-565-7900

Vision:
Members of the Lanai High and Elementary School Community are Tenacious, Observant, Respectful, Compassionate, Honorable (TORCH).

Mission:
To seek and provide educational opportunities that challenge members of our school community to achieve their personal best.

Beliefs:
We all share responsibility for advancing the school's mission. Student learning is the chief priority at our school. Continuous improvement is imperative.

About Us:
The school operates on a modified year-round schedule. Students at the elementary level are educated in self-contained classes through grade 5, with the exception of the fourth grade, which is piloting a homogeneous grouping program for reading. At the secondary level students attend three 85-minute classes per day. The schedule allows students to meet with instructors every other school day for a double period. The longer classes allow teachers to incorporate direct instruction with hands-on application, individualized help, independent research, cooperative learning activities, small group work and enrichment opportunities.

The student body of 612 students (Fall 2005), is served by a teaching staff of 44.5 classroom and 11.0 Special Education teachers. The faculty includes an administrative staff of seven (one principal, two vice-principals, one athletic director, one each student services coordinator, registrar, and student activities coordinator), one librarian, three school level counselors, one athletic trainer, and three additional School Based Behavioral Health (SBBH) counselors, all with doctorate degrees.
