Historic Veblen Farm
Beginning mid-April members receive a generous weekly basket of naturally grown, freshly harvested produce and frequently flowers. The season begins with fresh spring greens and baby root crops from the hoophouses. As the season progresses the quantity and variety increases as the harvest moves to the outside garden. From asparagus in the spring to winter squash in the fall, we include an appealing variety of produce and flowers in each week's basket. A share generously feeds a family of four.
In 1867 the farm was established on virgin prairie near Nerstrand, Minnesota by Norwegian immigrants, Thomas and Kari Veblen. Their son, Thorstein Veblen later became a world-renowned economist and social critic. The farm is now a National Historic Landmark known as the Thorstein Veblen Farmstead. After being abandoned for many years, the house underwent a complete restoration in the l990s and in 2008 the farm began a new life as Historic Veblen Farm CSA.
Historic Veblen Farm CSA has the longest CSA season in the Faribault/Northfield area and we serve several drop-site locations in the Twin Cities as well. We are committed to providing our members with the freshest, cleanest, most beautiful produce possible.
