In the spring of 1962 a preacher named O. R. Dickerson called on a small group of people in Bryant about supporting a Southern Baptist Church with their attendance. First Baptist Church in Benton agreed to sponsor a mission. In August, First Baptist Church voted to buy land and build a place of worship at 604 S Reynolds and, in February of 1963, Bryant Southern Baptist Mission was formally dedicated.

In August of 1965 the mission was organized into a church and named Second Baptist Church, Bryant. There were 96 charter members. In October of 1972 the name of the church was changed to First Southern Baptist Church of Bryant.

In a special business meeting in July of 1975 the church voted to accept a bid made on a new sanctuary. The new sanctuary, with 3,872 square feet and a seating capacity of 268, was dedicated December 1975. God continued to bless and in June of 1981 the present sanctuary building was dedicated. In 2002 the church purchased 45 acres between Hwy 5 and I-30 with plans to one day move the entire facility there. In 2004 a multi-purpose building was built on what is currently called the North Campus.
