About The School

Elberta Elementary's Belief Statement

The faculty, staff, and community of Elberta Elementary School believe that every child can learn. The faculty addresses learning styles through child-specific programs. We believe our school provides opportunities for students to develop individually by integrating current technological practices. School-wide decisions are made based on systematically collected data to provide optimal student learning. A student can meet their potential effectively in a safe, supportive and interactive environment.

History of Elberta Elementary

In 1903, the Baldwin County Colonization Company was founded by a group of Chicago businessmen. They drew up a master school plan for the Elberta community that called for establishing enough schools to ensure that no child should have to walk more than three miles from home. The original plan provided for six schools. In 1921, schools in the community were consolidated. All students attended a four-room school in Elberta. As the community grew, the physical plant continued to expand. Experiencing rapid increases in student population, in 1991 the Baldwin County Board of Education approved construction of a new middle school wing. Continued community growth resulted in a new school being constructed. Grades kindergarten through third were moved to the new facility at the beginning of the 1998-1999 school year.
