Founded in 1890, Pell City is the largest city in St. Clair County and one of two county seats. With a population of over 16,000, it offers the conveniences of a large city with the friendliness of a small town. Birmingham is less than an hour away, while Atlanta, Chattanooga, Huntsville, and Montgomery are within a two hour drive. Pell City has a thriving business community, excellent education and recreational facilities.

Over 275 miles of shoreline on Logan Martin Lake offers water recreation and relaxation for residents and visitors of Pell City. The lake is used for camping, fishing, skiing, swimming, sailing and many other water activities. The popular B.A.S.S. Masters Classic fishing tournament which includes the top professional bass fisherman in the world has been hosted here on numerous occasions.

Away from the lake, Pell City centers around more than 30 churches and a city school system with an excellent reputation statewide. Within 50 miles of Pell City are 11 colleges and universities and 7 vocational-technical schools.

The Civic Center has become one of the most enjoyable spots for residents to visit. The gym and walking track are available for exercise. Classes such as square dancing, aerobics for all ages, karate, arts and crafts are held here. The Civic Center is excellent for banquets and can host large city and county meetings. The grounds include a picnic area, playground for children, walking trail, fishing and boat launch
