History:

In 1963, Central Baptist Church began as a church that stood for the Bible, without compromise.  Early meetings were held in the Farm Bureau Building.  As the church was established, the basement portion of our current building was completed. 

By 1967, construction had been completed on the upstairs portion of our building and the new addition was dedicated that year.

Greeneville Christian Academy was opened in 1972.  The building was expanded again as well.  Side additions were added to allow for more seating in the auditorium.  In 1974, the wing was added to accommodate the school.  The academy was in operation until 1989.

In 1987, our church pews were padded by donations from various church members.  Small nameplates were placed at the end of each pew in honor or in the memory of whomever the donor wished.  Also in 1987, the church steeple was moved from its position on the side of the church roof to a more secure position at the center of the roof.
