About Cancer Support Community- Redondo Beach:

- The Mission of Cancer Support Community is to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action and sustained by community.

- The goal of Cancer Support Community-Redondo Beach (CSC-RB) is to help as many cancer patients as possible recover from the physical and emotional effects of cancer to the greatest extent possible.

- CSC-RB has been providing free programs and services to cancer patients and their loved ones in the South Bay (and surrounding areas) for more than 26 years.

- CSC-RB provides over 150 free programs per month of emotional support, education and hope for people with cancer and their families.

- Services include weekly support groups, drop-in networking groups, Kids Community, Physician's lectures, stress reduction and mind-body activities, educational lectures and workshops on nutrition and cooking.

- CSC-RB is a complete mental, physical, and spiritual destination for resources to those affected by cancer.

- CSC-RB offers what is considered to be the gold standard of psychosocial support. All programs are derived from evidence-based psychosocial oncology and mind-body research. Groups are facilitated by licensed therapists.

- Last year CSC-RB expanded into providing free services to children impacted by cancer with our Kids' Community Program.

- CSC-RB's new "Kids' Community" now enables us to provide free support services to the entire family.  Kids Community is a creative expression program designed for children age 5-12 with a parent or loved one with cancer.  In the program, children participate in creative activities (such as drumming, chalk-art, yoga, even cooking) and speak about their fears and anxieties. They know that their families are different.  Participation in the program gives them a great sense of relief to be with other children who also have a parent or loved one with cancer.  The program normalizes the experience and provides the children with the comfort of knowing that they are not alone.
