The mission of the Blount County Board of Education is to provide the highest quality of education while meeting the needs of all students and creating lifelong learners.
About Us:
Providing the Keys to Lifelong Learning" is the motto of the Blount County Schools, with a focus on providing our students with the skills and knowledge needed to become successful and productive citizens. Our schools are rich in tradition and history that reflect the values of each community.
We currently have 16 school sites in the Blount County School System with one new school coming on line this fall in the Hayden area. When we break this down, you find six high schools, seven elementary and middle schools, one career tech center, one alternative school and one multi needs school. Our enrollment for these schools now surpasses 8,000 students, an indication of continuing growth in our county. Blount County is recognized as one of the fastest growing areas in the state, adding new families every day. Here you find safe communities filled with a sense of pride and a quality of life that is exceptional.
The Blount County School System is the leading employer in Blount County. We are "big business" with a budget that now exceeds $60 million, employing over 500 certified personnel employees with professional certificates teachers, administrators, counselors, librarians, etc. We also employ about 400 support workers aides, bus drivers, lunchroom employees, custodians, etc. Plus, we maintain after school care programs at several of our school sites. We certainly appreciate the hard work put forth by all of our employees as we try to serve our students with a dedicated and committed attitude.
