About Blacksburg Host Lions Club

PURPOSE:

Dedicated to the service of community, state, and country, with particular emphasis on the prevention of blindness, the conservation of sight, and the conservation of hearing. The Club's purpose is stated succinctly by the motto of all members of LIONS INTERNATIONAL -- "WE SERVE."

The Blacksburg Host Lions Club was chartered by Lions International in 1925, and has given continuous service to the community since that time. The Club celebrated its 75th anniversary March 13, 2000. Since receiving its charter, the Club has sponsored the organization of three other Lions Clubs. In 1932 it sponsored the organization of the Pearisburg Lions Club. It sponsored the Christiansburg Lions Club in 1942, and the Blacksburg Breakfast Lions Club in 1972. When the second Blacksburg Lions club was chartered, the Blacksburg Lions Club became known as the Blacksburg Host Lions Club.
