Vision Statement :

The Bayfield Chamber of Commerce Board has adopted the following vision statement reflecting the goals and actions of the Board for the year 2018:

“Bayfield remains a place of great allure and charm characterized by Bayfield’s residents, historic buildings and homes, and thoughtful urban design are respectful of the town’s social, cultural and architectural heritage. Playing a prominent role in protecting and enhancing these important qualities, the Chamber of Commerce works to keep the special traditions, image and culture intact despite a changing world.

The membership and the board represent all facets of the Bayfield area’s economic base as well as education, government and other not-for-profit organizations that benefit from a healthy local economy. The Chamber also supports and encourages development of sustainable businesses that make use of the area’s rich natural resources, e.g. forestry, agriculture and fishing. The Chamber continues to increase its membership by embracing a wide audience of community partners.

The Chamber strives to create and maintain a healthy, profitable, vibrant and sustainable business community. It is a leader in the planning and implementation of a city/community business development strategy. The effective implementation of the plan insures the long-term viability of a growing and prosperous community that provides essential services for residents. While tourism continues to be vital for a healthy local economy, it is only one of many focus areas for the Chamber.

The Chamber is an advocate, a host and a catalyst for economic development that is in harmony with the area’s natural environment and its inhabitants. It actively recruits small businesses that will enhance the quality of life in Bayfield for area residents while serving visitors as well.

The Bayfield Chamber of Commerce is a voice for its members. It supports business genisis and growth from within its membership. It also provides support for member cooperative efforts, aids and encourages professional development of members and staff, and provides services such as a health insurance pool for small businesses. These member services also serve in recruiting businesses from outside the area.

In promoting Bayfield, the Chamber directs successful special events and activities, each successful in attaining stated goals and compatible with the uniqueness of the community. Further, the Chamber has successfully promoted the community as a year-round tourist destination, and, as a result, new businesses have emerged and existing businesses benefited.

The Chamber invests in the wider community through financial and physical support. It has a positive impact on the community’s nonprofit organizations and supports and promotes education and life-long learning strategy for all ages. The Chamber also strives to preserve and share Bayfield’s cultural and environmental treasures. It assists the City of Bayfield with a beautification plan consistent with Bayfield’s unique environment and heritage and takes responsibility for ensuring essential facilities for visitors and residents alike, such as public restrooms and parking.

The Chamber has a strong working relationship with organizations and agencies in the community and attains common goals through collaboration and cooperation. Its powerful and positive connections with the community have attracted and engaged a large and diverse group of volunteers.”
