The library will be closed Monday, June 19th for Juneteenth. No items will be due this day, and we will return to regular hours Tuesday.

Around the World Book Club

Explore the world through books with the Around the World Book Club challenge. To participate, pick up your Book Club packet at the front desk and get started with any book that lets you explore another place/culture! Meet other book club goers on June 29th to share what you learned.

SUMMER STORY TIME

Every Monday in June (excluding June 19th) at 10am, join Mr. Ricky for Summer Story Time and family crafts!

Thursdays at 10AM
BILINGUAL STORY TIME

ESL teacher Ms. Joy of More Fluent English will be at the library every Thursday in June at 10am for Bilingual Story Time! Join us in the children’s area for stories read in English and Spanish.
La señora Joy, maestra de inglés, estará en la biblioteca todos los jueves del mes de junio a las 10 de la mañana. Ella va a leer cuentos para los niños en inglés y en español. ¡Te esperamos!

JEOPARDY NIGHT

It’s All Together Now for Jeopardy night! How much do you know about local and world history or culture? The community? Team up to see who knows the most trivia!

SNAKES AND THE ENVIRONMENT

Come meet Cotton & Nigini the Corn Snakes! You will learn all about how to tell the difference between venomous and nonvenomous snakes and the roles they play in the environment from Guntersville State Park Naturalist Indya Guthrie.

TRAVEL TALES WITH THE MAYOR

You may recognize Mayor Richard Phillips from the City of Oneonta TikTok, and now you can meet him as he shares photos and stories from his travels in and out of the country!

Wednesday the 7th at 10AM
MARIACHI BAND

At The Little Brick Church
A musician from the American Latin & Mariachi party band will be at the Little Brick Church to perform mariachi classics, plus modern music from classic rock and country. Come jam out with us!

Thursday the 8th at 6PM
BEEKEEPING FOR BEGINNERS

Learn about beekeeping from a professional beekeeper and check out their hives! Natural honey will be available to sample.

Friday the 9th at 2:30PM
RAPTORS RIDGE BIRDS OF PREY

Raptors Ridge and FLFR are bringing some friends to hang out at the library! Come meet and learn about these birds of prey and why they're important to the ecosystem.

MAKING TORTILLAS

Cinco de Mayo may be over, but there is never a bad time for tacos. Come out to learn how to make authentic tortillas.

What snacks are available in other countries that we might not find here? Try out these snacks from Around the World in our tasting night!

Join the Oneonta Police Department at the library to learn more about what police officers do and explore a police car.

DREAM CATCHER ART

Come make dream catchers at the library! This DIY craft will protect your dreams and ensure a good night’s rest.

FIGHTING TOGETHER WITH HEMA

The Rocket City Historical European Martial Arts group will demonstrate the importance of the medieval knight and squire relationship, including armor prep and unit fighting tactics using research-based reenactments and historical weapons.

Tuesday the 27th at 10AM
FUN WITH J.R.

Help J.R. make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich by instructing him on the steps! Kids must work together to get the PB&J made by teaching J.R. how it’s done.

AROUND THE WORLD SCAVENGER HUNT

Venture around the world (in the library) on this adventure-themed scavenger hunt! Can you solve the clues and get your blimp around the world before the other teams?

Wednesday the 28th at 10AM
FIREFIGHTERS AND POP ICE

Come hang out with Oneonta firefighters and become an Honorary Jr. Firefighter for the day. You will learn about fire safety and explore the fire truck.

Our Summer Reading Finale will take place outside the library as community workers and businesses come together to showcase their careers and resources in this fun Community Faire! Learn about community jobs, meet local heroes, and explore Oneonta all in one place.
