Sparklight® Awards $2,500 to North Pike Elementary for STEM Education

April 23, 2024 – Summit, Miss. – Sparklight® announced North Pike Elementary is a winner of its sixth annual “Dream Bigger” social media campaign, which awards $2,500 each to six schools and organizations providing STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education to K-12 students.

The award will support the school’s unique STEAM program for intellectually gifted, second- to fourth-grade students. Funds will cover Legos and storage needed to complete projects, as well as production equipment for creating videos for the program’s YouTube channel.

“I am so grateful for the Sparklight STEM award and the opportunities it will provide for our school,” said Chelsey Wicker, North Pike Elementary gifted education instructor for Second to Fourth Grades, who submitted the Dream Bigger entry. “The entire community rallied together to vote for our Title 1 gifted education project. My students are preparing for their future in technology, and this award will help them start on their dreams now. Thank you, Sparklight, for giving back!”

Nearly 100 schools and organizations submitted entries outlining how the award would be used to fund their STEM projects, and how the projects benefit students. The winners were determined by public voting and were announced on Sparklight’s social media channels, including Facebook and Instagram.

Since 2019, Sparklight and the associated Cable One family of brands have awarded nearly $150,000 through the Dream Bigger initiative.
