Proclamation on National Vietnam War Veterans Day

WHEREAS: Through The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act, signed into law in 2017,  March 29 is recognized as National Vietnam War Veterans Day and the State of Arkansas will honor and recognize the service and sacrifice of our Vietnam War era Veterans and their families; 

WHEREAS: We honor their brave service and sacrifice to our state and nation, and we also remember the families who supported them;

WHEREAS: The State of Arkansas respects all who have fallen and paid the ultimate price for our nation and are memorialized at state and national memorials; 

WHEREAS: Today, we also remember the thousands of Arkansas men and women who served our nation during the Vietnam War and thank them for their service; 

WHEREAS: The freedoms we enjoy today are a direct result of the courage, sacrifice, and devotion of our members of the United States Armed Forces. We, as American citizens, are grateful for their strength and dedication; and

WHEREAS: The people of Arkansas are inspired by our veterans and will never forget their loyalty to our great country;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS, Governor of the State of Arkansas, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the laws of the State of Arkansas, do hereby proclaim March 29th, 2023, as 

“NATIONAL VIETNAM WAR VETERANS DAY” 

across the State, and I encourage my fellow citizens to remember and respect our veterans for their service year-round.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Arkansas to be affixed this 28th day of March, in the year of our Lord 2023.
