Join us in the courtroom made  famous by To Kill a Mockingbird for captivating readings, enlightening discussions, amusing conversations and Monroeville’s famous brand of hospitality. We’re welcoming friends, old and new, to discover new authors, celebrate favorite writers and share great times with others who love Southern literature.

Old Courthouse Museum

8:30 am: Check-in opens/tent on courthouse lawn

9:00 am: Barbara Barcellona Smith, children's author

10:00 am: Robert Bailey

11:00 am: Jennifer Horne

12:00 pm: Lunch on one's own (Ask any volunteer for suggestions)

1:45 pm: Welcome – Mayor Charles Andrews and Al Brewton, Monroe County Musuem  Board President

2:00 pm:  Presentation of the Truman Capote Prize – Dr. Don Noble Kim Cross, recipient

3:00 pm: Presentation of the Harper Lee Award Tom Franklin, recipient

4:00 pm: Presentation of a Special Lifetime Achievment Award to Tom Kelly“Poet Laureate of the Turkey Woods”

4:30 – 5:15 pm: Book Signing  in Courtroom

The Shop at 66

6:00 pm: An Elegant Southern Supper honoring Tom Franklin, Kim Cross and Tom Kelly. ($40, advance purchase required)Let's celebrate and toast our award winners!Enjoy a relaxed time with our visiting authors and other festivalgoers and sample an elegant spread of Southern foods, wine and music. This year's music will be Diamond Reo 75, a popular south Alabama band performing a unique mix of covers and original music. The Shop at 66 Event Center is located at 66 S. Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Monroeville, AL 36460.

This year's festival offers options for your Saturday morning , from writers in the Courtroom to family activities at the Library.

Family Events

9:00 am:  Children's activities and crafts  at the Monroe County Public Library, 121 Pineville Rd., near the northeast corner of the square.

10:00 am:  Readings from Let's Eat Snails by children's book author Barbara Barcellona Smith  at the Monroe County Public Library, 121 Pineville Rd., near the northeast corner of the square.

12:15 – 1:45 pm:  A Southern Lunch with Kelsey Barnard Clark at The Shop at 66Luncheon ($30, advance purchase required)following the presentation by chef and cookbook author  Kelsey Barnard Clark, a 2024 James Beard Award semifinalist for Best Chef: South.  Enjoy a bountiful Southern meal. The Shop at 66 is located at 66 S. Mt. Pleasant Avenue Monroeville, AL 36460.
