Author Talk With Naseem Rochette

In her unique memoir, The Unexpected Benefits of Being Run Over, equal parts heart wrenching and inspiring, Naseem lays bare the reality of personal trauma—and how we each have the power to reimagine our lives and find beauty in being both broken and unbreakable. Stay Safe In The Woods

with New Jersey Search & Rescue

Monday, June 19 6:30 pm at Hilton Branch

Get ready for your summer hiking!. This fun and engaging presentation will teach adults and teens how to stay safe in the woods, and cover the ten essentials to carry for a safe enjoyable outdoor adventure.

Speaker John Rovetto is a life member of New Jersey Search and Rescue where he works on the Preventing Search and Rescue (PSAR) project to inform youth and adults how to avoid getting lost and what to do if it happens. No registration needed.

Soma Story Slam: Teen Edition

Wednesday, June 7   

7 pm at the Hilton Branch Gazebo (indoors if it rains)

SOMA Story Slam celebrates graduating high school seniors as they transition to college. Are you a senior and proud of your college admissions essay? Now's your chance to bask in glory and inspire younger students at the same time!

Christina Taber-Kewene, Rachel Fisher, and Stephanie Nasteff-Pilato, the essay writing coaches from CTK College Coach will provide a brief introduction on how to write the college essay, and then selected seniors will read their college essays for the community. The deadline to submit essays is past, but if you’d like to attend to cheer on the scholars, register here. High school freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and parents are especially encouraged to attend.

Tweens And Teens Chess Group

Wednesdays, June 7 & 14, July 12 & 26, August 2

6:00 pm at Hilton Branch

Our Tweens and Teens Chess Group is assisted by tutors from The Next Semester. This group is open to all skill levels. Use one of our chess sets or bring your own. Maybe even check out a book on chess strategy.

Registration is encouraged, but not required. Be sure to register for the day(s) you want to attend. (Under Date & Time, see More Options.)

Lil Tumblez

Tuesday, June 6th @ 10:30 am Join us for soft play. This activity is great for developing and improving motor skills, confidence and coordination. Kids will have a blast climbing, crawling, bouncing and exploring. This fun demo class is presented by Lil Tumblez Party.

There is limited mat space, so we will have stories on the side while you wait for your turn.

Program will be held outside. In case of rain, program will be held inside.

Read To A Dog

Monday, June 19 @ 6:30-7:30pm

For school age kids and tweens. Drop in to read aloud to Sufi, a 6-year-old Corgi mix therapy dog. Bring something to read, or arrive early enough to pick out a book to read aloud. All the attendees will sit together in a group, taking turns to read aloud to Sufi.

Bring a towel and a bathing suit for immersive fun in a sea of bubbles. Our summer reading programs kick-off today with this family-friendly event.

Starting on June 24th you may sign up for reading incentives, prizes, programs, and fun activities throughout the summer!

Pajama Storytime

 All ages welcome, stories for ages 3 to 7 – with a participating adult. An enjoyable evening of stories & songs. Feel free to wear your pajamas!

For ages 5 years & up – with a participating adult

Get inspired by our display of books on African American architects, then build your own creation to be displayed in the library.
