Exhibiting at the Gallery: Svalbard
Photographs by Ian van Coller
through June 25th
The abundance of Svalbard paired by its proximity to Europe made the arctic gateway an easy target for extraction. The islands were used as a base by whalers, who came in search of blubber; hunters who came for furs; and miners who came for coal. Ian van Coller’s work traces the legacy of human intervention in sublime photographs.
Artist's Talk - 4:58 min.
Ian van Coller discusses his book,
The Last Glaciers of Kilimanjaro, which accompanies the Svalbard exhibition.
