Ocala, FL - The Ocala Recreation and Parks, in coordination with Eagle Scout Troup 72 member Grayson Collins, will host a dedication ceremony for the completed renovation of the World War I Commemorative Fountain Wednesday, Aug. 2, 10 a.m. at Tuscawilla Park, 475 NE Third St. This event is free and open to the public. Members of the media are encouraged to attend.

The renovation project began on Jan. 31 and was completed July 12, 2023.  The goal of Eagle Scout projects is to demonstrate planning and leadership skills.  This restoration project served as a community project and helped restore the fountain to its working condition. Grayson received donations to cover the cost of the project and the City of Ocala donated labor such as irrigation and bench installation.

The World War I Commemorative Fountain was first dedicated in 1927 by Judge J.C.B. Koonce. The fountain underwent a previous restoration in 1997 by Troop 440 Boy Scouts of America and Ocala V.F.W.

Thanks to generous contributions, Grayson was able to renovate the fountain, add new benches and reconstruct some of the rock features.
