MSAC's Arts Capital Program Announces New Bi-Weekly Webinar Series

In correlation with launching the new Arts Capital grant program, the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC) is pleased to present a free four-part professional development series: Capital Project Strategies for the Arts!

Capital projects are often essential to increasing accessibility, expanding audiences, providing a safe and healthy environment for artists and audiences, and ensuring that a facility will be open to the public for years to come. However, the complexity, cost, and time commitment required to complete a capital project can be an overwhelming prospect for many staff and boards.

Throughout the four webinars, the Capital Project Strategies for the Arts series will offer guidance on:

- Understanding the characteristics and scope of capital projects and how size and complexity correlate to budget and timeline.

- Learning how to assess a building or arts facility and organize multiple needs into projects or phases of work aligned with organizational priorities and capacity.

- Understanding the difference between “soft” and “hard” costs in capital projects and how to think about both when fundraising for and managing your capital project.

- Recognizing when a project may benefit from outside expertise and having a sense of who or how to approach someone from an outside sector to assist you in reaching your goals.
