From: Smokey Bear StampedeJoin us for the 66th Annual Smokey Bear Stampede! with nightly open rodeos and daily ranch rodeos there is cowboy action for everyone. New this year are team roping jackpots throughout each day.
Capitan, New Mexico has been named by both ABC News and Yahoo Travel as one of ten best small towns to celebrate the Independance Day. Fun for the whole family with activities all over town and at the Smokey Bear Stampede.
The largest open rodeo weekend, based on total entries, in the United States. Our rodeo has all the traditional events, including bull riding and saddle bronc, team roping and tie-down roping, and women's barrel racing with two unique events, Ranch Bronc riding and Ladies Break-away Calf Roping.
Don't forget we also have mutton bustin' and a calf scramble for the kids.
Come meet Smokey Bear and watch exciting trick riding of Summer and Emmie Boyd!
If that is not enough, stay after the main performance each night to watch the "slack" when the rest of the cowboys compete to see who wins the purse.
